Hey, we are Birgit and Jannes. We met each other on the age of 18 and quickly felt in love. Since we both shared the passion of traveling we traveled troughout Europe together. While traveling we discovered Airbnb and stayed with numerous locals during our trips. After we bought a house in the beautiful historical city of Bruges it was just a logical step to host guests via Airbnb and show our city to the world. Airbnb was a very rewarding and positive experience, thats why Birgit decided to start a professional Bed and Breakfast. Birgit is looking forward to welcome you together with Jannes and our cat and dog, Casper and Bono.

De geschiedenis van onze B&B

Bruges has a great mill history, on a citymap publicated in 1865 we can see 21 mills around the city. On of those mills was build on the exact location of our Bed and Breakfast. The mill called "De Hoogmolen" was a wooden corn windmill build in 1298. The mill had different owners untill the city of Bruges bought the mill in 1875 for 900 Belgian franc (22 euro). The city bought the mill together with 181 other properties to complete a masterplan to upgrade the Bouverie quarter. The mill was eventually demolished in 1878 to build a new boulevard, the Hendrik Consciencelaan. After the construction of the boulevard, new houses were build in the Hendrik Consciencelaan.

One of those new properties, the house on the corner of the Sint-Maartenbilk and the Hendrik Consiencelaan got demolished when one off the city gates exploded during the liberation of Bruges after world war II. In 1958 the new owner removed all the ruins to build a beautiful manor house. We bought the property in 2014 and completely renovated it to complete our dream, our own Bed and Breakfast. The Bed and Breakfast opened in 2018, we now hope to add a succesfull chapter to this allready amazing piece of history.
